The volume of output in the the building and construction industry increased by 18.4% in the third quarter of 2017 compared to the same time last year, boosted by residential building.
New figures from the Central Statistics Office show that residential building volumes jumped by 37.7% in three months from July to September.
The volume of work in non-residential building and civil engineering increased by 4.5% and 2.4% respectively during the same three month period compared to the same time last year.
Meanwhile, the volume of output in building and construction increased by 6.1% in the third quarter of 2017 when compared with the second quarter.
This reflected rises of 15.1% and 3.8% respectively in the volume of residential building work and civil engineering work, while output in non-residential building work decreased by 4.5%.
