Factory gate prices increased by 1.3% between September and October, new figures from the Central Statistics Office show.
This compares to an increase of 0.9% for October of last year.
The annual percentage change showed a decrease of 2.3% in October, compared to a decrease of 2.7% in the year to September 2017.
The CSO data indicate that, in the month, the price index for export sales increased by 1.2%, while the index for home sales increased by 1.5%.
In the year there was a decrease of 3.3% in the price index for export sales (this can be influenced by currency fluctuations) and an increase of 4.4% in respect of the price index for home sales.
During October the most significant changes were increases in Basic metals (+8.0%), Computer, electronic and optical products (+5.7%) while there were decreases in Printing and reproduction of recorded media (-4.4%), Meat and meat products (-1.0%) and Other food products including bread and confectionery (-0.4%).
Contributing to the annual change were decreases in Basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations (-8.2%), Other manufacturing including medical and dental instruments and supplies (-5.9%) and Beverages (-2.6%) while there were increases in Dairy products (+19.1%), Meat and meat products (+3.2%) and Computer, electronic and optical products (+2.2%).
The yearly price index for Mining and quarrying increased by 6.7% while the monthly index increased by 3.6%.
Building and Construction All materials prices increased by 3.2% in the year since October 2016.
The most notable yearly changes were increases in Glass (+21.7%), Fabricated metal (+7.6%) and Stone (+7.3%) while there was a decrease in Other concrete products excluding precast concrete (-0.8%).
Year on year, the price of Capital goods increased by 1.7%, while the monthly price remained the same.
The price of Energy products decreased by 5.1% in the year since October 2016, while Petroleum fuels increased by 1.9%. In October 2017, the monthly price index for Energy products increased by 5.3%, while Petroleum fuels increased by 0.1%.
