Henkel Ireland is to set up a new additive manufacturing project in Tallaght in Dublin which will create 40 new positions.

The company already has a significant manufacturing and R&D operation for its range of adhesive technologies in Tallaght, which employs 400 people.

Henkel said its "Additive Manufacturing (3D Printing) project" will employ 40 highly skilled scientists and engineers.

They will develop new advanced materials for use in precision manufacturing industries, such as medical devices, automotive and aerospace.

The new operation is supported by IDA Ireland.

Henkel said it chose Ireland for the project because of the country's strength in high value medical device R&D and manufacturing, coupled with a growing investment profile in 3D printing.

Meanwhile, Australian based travel company Flight Centre has announced plans to expand its Irish operation, with the creation of 30 new positions.

The expansion will bring to 100 the number of people employed at its Dublin office.

It is offering positions in IT, finance, sales and marketing and administration.

The company operates a travel agency service in 23 countries and opened its Dublin operation in August 2016.
