The proportion of people under the age of 60 living in a jobless household fell by 1.3% to 11% between April and June, when compared with the same period in 2016.
New figures from the Central Statistics Office also show the Mid-East region of the country, at 8.4%, had the lowest proportion of under 60s living in a jobless household, with the highest proportion, 14.3% found in the Midland region.

During the height of the economic crisis in 2011, the South East region had the highest proportion of under 60s living in a jobless household, with a rate of 21.2%.
The CSO figures also show that in the second quarter, the employment rate of lone parents (aged 15-64) was 58.5%.
This compares with 73.9% for adult couples without children, and 76% for adult couples with children.
