Aer Lingus has announced a new US service as part of its Dublin Summer Schedule for 2018.
The airline will start a new Dublin to Philadelphia route, which will operate four times a week from March 25.
The latest route expansion comes on the back of an investment from its parent company IAG in new aircraft, with Aer Lingus taking delivery of four new long haul aircraft in the last 24 months.
This has allowed the airline start new transatlantic routes - Los Angeles, Newark, Hartford, Miami and now Philadelphia.
This Summer will see the airline's biggest ever long haul programme with 177,000 extra seats across the Atlantic over the summer season.
Aer Lingus said its total capacity to and from North America for 2018 will reach 2.75 million seats as it also adds more seats on its San Francisco, Los Angeles and Chicago routes.
Meanwhile, Aer Lingus said its European network remains focused on summer sun and will see 945,000 seats to Spain, 310,000 seats to the Canary Islands and 495,000 seats to Portugal.
The airline noted that Malaga continues to be one of the most popular choices for Irish sun seekers and that route will get 11,000 additional seats from Dublin next summer.
Additional key short haul growth routes include Bordeaux, Lyon, Lisbon, Rome, Prague and Vienna.
Commenting on today's news from Aer Lingus, Dublin Airport's managing director, Vincent Harrison said the airport's transatlantic traffic has increased by 67% in the past five years.
"Dublin is now the fifth largest airport in Europe for North American connectivity after Heathrow, Paris, Frankfurt and Amsterdam," Mr Harrison said.
The service to Philadelphia is Dublin Airport's third new long-haul route for next year, as it will also see a new route to Hong Kong with Cathay Pacific and a new service to Montreal with Air Canada.
