A new survey reveals a sustained interest in finance jobs in Ireland among UK-based professionals since the Brexit vote.

According to jobs website Indeed, there was a 39% increase in searches among UK-based professionals for roles here in the three months to the end of August compared to three months before Brexit.

This compares to a 37% increase in searches in the three months after Brexit compared to the three months before the vote.

Indeed's research also shows that interest in Ireland from other European countries has accelerated since after the Brexit vote.

The company said this suggests that the lure of London as Europe's traditional financial hub could be diminishing.

Indeed's economist Mariano Mamertino said that Ireland is seen as a natural alternative to the UK by jobseekers, because it is an English-speaking country, with a flexible labour market and has one of the strongest growing economies in Europe.

"Indeed's job search data suggests that jobseekers are already responding to the political uncertainty surrounding Brexit negotiations. This increasing interest can also be seen as a vote of confidence in the Irish labour market and its financial sector," the economist added.

Indeed noted that the City of London has long been a magnet for finance professionals from continental Europe and in July 2015 they accounted for 7% of people looking for banking jobs in London.
