17,854 working days were lost to industrial disputes involving 2,156 workers between April and June of this year, according to latest figures from the Central Statistics Office.
A three-week strike action at Bus Éireann- which began in March and continued into April, accounted for almost all of the days lost and employees involved in disputes during the quarter.
1,900 workers at the State-owned bus operator were involved in the industrial action over cost-cutting measures, resulting in 17,608 work days being lost in the period.
The CSO figures also show a one-day dispute in the construction sector during the quarter by crane drivers at two firms led to 220 working days being lost.
Meanwhile, a dispute at Edenderry Power Plant, which carried over into Q2, accounted for 26 lost work days.
There were two disputes for the same period last year, involving 255 workers and resulting in 1,127 days lost.
