Monthly services decreased by 1.4% in June while there was an annual rise of 0.4% in the month, according to the Central Statistics Office.

Its figures show that on a monthly basis, the sectors showing increases in June were ‘Other Services Activities’ (+6.5%), ‘Transportation and Storage’ (+4.1%), ‘Information and Communication’ (+2.0%) and ‘Accommodation and Food Service Activities’ (+1.4%).

Meanwhile, there were drops recorded in ‘Professional, Scientific and Technical Activities’ (-11.9%), ‘Wholesale and Retail Trade’ (-3.7%) and ‘Administrative and Support Service Activities’ (-0.4%).

On an annual basis, the sectors showing the biggest increases since June 2016 were ‘Other Service Activities’ (+5.1%) and ‘Accommodation and Food Service Activities’ (+4.4%).

In the year to June, ‘Wholesale and Retail Trade’ and ‘Administrative and Support Service Activities’ recorded decreases of 3.5% and 0.1% respectively.
