Manufacturing production slumped by 8% between May and June, latest figures from the Central Statistics Office show.
Annually, the fall in June was 8.3%.
The ‘modern’ sector saw a 6.8% monthly fall in production in June, with an annual decrease of 9.7% for the sector.

Turnover for manufacturing industries saw a 12.5% drop between May and June, while annually in June turnover was 16.8% lower.
However, the CSO data also indicate volume of manufacturing industrial production for the three months from April to June was 3.8% higher than in the preceding three-month period.
