Irish food company Greencore recorded a 76.6% (11.8% pro-forma) rise in revenue to £636.5m in the 13 weeks to 30 June.

For the year to date group revenue is £1.65 billion, over 56% ahead of the same period last year on a reported basis.

During the quarter, Greencore’s convenience foods business in the UK & Ireland grew by 20.9% with revenue of £370.6m.

Other parts of its UK & Ireland convenience foods division, which includes the prepared meals and grocery set of businesses in the UK, reported revenue grew by 6.4% in Q3.

There was particularly strong revenue growth in its Irish ingredients businesses, while Greencore added trading conditions were challenging in its ready meals, cakes and desserts businesses during the quarter.

Meanwhile, the US division reported Q3 revenue growth of 393.3% to £265.9m, an increase of 6.6% on a pro-forma basis, with this growth primarily reflecting the acquisition of Peacock Foods at the end of last year.

On its outlook for the remainder of the year, Greencore said Q4 will be the most seasonally important period, adding the fact that trading conditions remain challenging in certain parts of its UK portfolio means the group anticipates FY17 performance will be in the range of current market expectations.
