Retail Excellence, the retail representative body, has promoted the former Senator and barrister, Lorraine Higgins, to the position of deputy CEO.
Lorraine Higgins joined the company in January of this year and headed up the Public Affairs and Communications division since then.
She will take up the deputy CEO position from September 1.
Retail Excellence's chief executive David Fitzsimons said Ms Higgins' political and legal expertise has helped the company with its growth and representation plans.
"Having a strong, committed team is key to the success of Retail Excellence, whether that is working with our member retailers or strategic partners, and I have no doubt that Lorraine will play an important role in our future," Mr Fitzsimons said.
