Refurbishment works have started at the site of the former headquarters of the Central Bank on Dame Street in Dublin city centre.
John Paul Construction has been appointed as the main building contractor to undertake the work.
The Sam Stephenson designed building was completed in 1979.
It was structurally unique for its time with the floors suspended from two service cores and propped up by steel supports which are visible from the outside.
International property firm Hines, and Peterson Group, the Hong Kong based real estate investment company, bought the former Central Bank buildings earlier this year.
In a statement, John Paul Construction said the "sensitive" refurbishment programme will replace the 40 year old glazing which is no longer fit for modern day office use.
The granite stone cladding on the building will be carefully restored, as will the external steel supports, giving the tower's façade a new lease of life, it added.
John Paul Construction recently completed the restoration of the former Bank of Ireland headquarters on Baggot Street, now known as Miesian Plaza.
The Central Bank is now located at New Wapping Street in Dublin's North Wall Quay.
