Providence contracts deep-water drillship for well

Oil exploration company Providence Resources said it has contracted the Stena IceMAX deep-water drillship to drill on its Druid & Drombeg exploration well in the southern Porcupine Basin.  

The well - 53/6-A - is part of the company's Frontier Exploration Licence 2/14.

It is operated by Providence Resources on behalf of its partners Capricorn Ireland Limited - a subsidiary of Cairn Energy - and Sosina Exploration Limited. 

The IceMAX has left its base in Las Palmas, Gran Canaria with a current expected time of arrival at the planned  well location by July 3.
