New figures from the Central Statistics Office show that the number of UK visitors coming to Ireland slumped by 10.7% in the three months from February to April.
Almost 856,000 British residents came here during the three month period, which is down more than 100,000 year on year.
Overall, the total number of trips to Ireland increased by 0.1% to 2,065,100 in the three month period - an overall increase of 2,600 compared to the same time a year ago.
Trips by residents of European Countries - excluding the UK - increased by 2.2% to 741,800.
Meanwhile, trips by residents of North America to Ireland increased by 25.7% to 357,900 while visitors from Other Areas - including Africa, Australia and Asia - increased by 16.7% to 109,700.
Today's figures also show that the total number of overseas trips made by Irish residents in the three months rose by 11.9% to 1,737,500.
