QSAT, the satellite broadband service run by former Irish football international Niall Quinn, has been shut down due to a dispute with Avanti - the satellite company hosting the service.
Speaking on RTÉ's Liveline, Mr Quinn said Avanti switched off the QSAT service on Wednesday without notice.
Mr Quinn, who is a director of QSAT along with his wife Gillian, said the company is in the middle of a two-year legal dispute with Avanti.
He added his company is doing everything it can to assist customers in moving to another broadband service that is hosted by Avanti.
QSAT, which was set up in 2012, is understood to have around 3,000 customers across rural Ireland.
Mr Quinn said the dispute relates to what he described as an "unworkable contract".
