Oil exploration company Providence Resources has appointed Angus McCoss as a non-executive director on its board.

Angus McCoss is the exploration director and main board director of Tullow Oil, an independent oil and gas, exploration and production group, which is quoted on the Dublin, London and Ghanaian stock exchanges.

Mr McCoss joined Tullow in 2006 following 21 years of wide-ranging exploration experience, working mainly with Shell in Africa, Europe, China, South America and the Middle East.

Pat Plunkett, the Chairman of Providence Resources, said that Mr McCoss joins the company at a "very exciting period" in its corporate development.

"Angus brings extensive knowledge and relevant exploration experience which will assist us in further realising the very significant value in our portfolio," he added.

Mr McCoss will take up the new position in June.
