Fifteen jobs are to be created through the opening of a new SuperValu store in Kingscourt, Co Cavan.

SuperValu Kingscourt, operated by local businessman Eugene O’Gorman, will move from its current location to a nearby 14,875 sq ft state-of-the-art new store, bringing the total number of employees to 50 and representing an investment of €5m.

The Kingscourt store, which is independently owned and operated, will continue to source fresh produce locally.

The 15 new jobs include a number of specialist positions due to a new butcher counter, hot food delicatessen and bakery in-store.

The new store will also include a dedicated health and wellness zone, access to free wi-fi, and the introduction of Frank and Honest coffee – a new gourmet coffee range from SuperValu which will also be available in store.

SuperValu has around 2.6 million weekly customers and has 222 stores nationwide, with 14,500 employees.
