Goodbody has announced it is merging its capital markets and corporate finance divisions into a new single investment banking unit as part of its ongoing UK expansion.

The stockbroker said the move marks “the culmination of a multi-year strategy to transform the business from a local Irish broker to a sector specialist broker with international reach.

“The firm can now deliver a seamless experience of depth and expertise to corporate clients from marketing to execution.”

Goodbody opened its London office in June of last year, in response to a growing number of Irish companies changing their share listings to the FTSE.

Brian O’Kelly and Stephen Donovan will be Co-Heads of Investment Banking.

The restructuring leaves Goodbody with three business units covering investment banking, wealth management, and asset management.

The firm has also appointed London investment banker Piers Coombs to boost ongoing its UK expansion.

Mr Coombs joins Goodbody from a senior position at Canaccord Genuity to take up the role Head of Corporate – UK at the stockbroker’s London office.
