The Taoiseach has told the Dáil he has no intention of restoring the Economic Management Council – a core group of Cabinet ministers that held meetings on a weekly basis during the last Government.
Mr Kenny said the EMC was put in place because of the economic crisis during the last Government and provided a mechanism for daily contact between the Taoiseach's department and the Department of Finance.
The Taoiseach said with economic growth and the public finances now under control there was no need for the EMC and he would not be restoring it.
The EMC was subject to considerable criticism during the last Government but Mr Kenny insisted it provided a forum for key ministers to examine issues before they went to a full Cabinet meeting for consideration.
