Dawn Meats has said it has produced over one billion beef burgers for fastfood chain McDonald's since a €300m deal was signed between the two companies in 2012.
Dawn Meat's production site at Carroll’s Cross in Waterford now produces more than 400 million beef burgers a year for McDonald's.
The burgers are sold in McDonald's outlets across Ireland, the UK and Continental Europe.
McDonald's is the single largest purchaser of Irish beef by volume, purchasing about 40,000 tonnes of Irish beef annually. One in every five burgers sold in its outlets across Europe is of Irish origin.
Dawn Meats was established in Co Waterford in 1980, and has grown to a business with over €1 billion in annual revenue. It employs 3,300 staff in eight countries.
