Independent News & Media (INM) has taken over full ownership of Irish car sales website CarsIreland.ie, after acquiring the remaining 50% of the business.

In a statement INM said CarsIreland, which was launched in 2004, has delivered significant growth in recent years and “synergises with the Group’s print and online motoring supplements”.

The CarsIreland website has up to 1,000 car dealers advertising around 40,000 used, new and classic cars for sale on the platform each month.

INM CEO Robert Pitt added that the “site’s online dominance fits well with INM’s strategy for both its online and print titles”.

The value of the deal has not been disclosed.
