Ryanair has opened a new training centre in London’s Stansted Airport, which it says will support plans to create 1,000 jobs across the company this year.

The airline’s European Training Centre is part of a near €1.24bn investment in Britain, which includes the expansion of its fleet there in the coming months.

Ryanair said that around 450 of the jobs it will create this year will be filled across the 18 British airports that it operates from, bringing its employment levels there to 3,500.

The centre was opened by Britain’s chancellor George Osborne and Ryanair CEO Michael O’Leary, who reiterated his support for Britain remaining in the European Union.
