Irish monthly factory gate prices increased by 0.3% in March, compared with an increase of 3.4% for March of last year.

The data from the Central Statistics Office shows the annual percentage change showed a decrease of 3.3% in March, compared with a decrease of 0.3% in the year to February.

During the month the price index for export sales increased by 0.3%, while the index for home sales increased by 0.1%.

However, in the year there was a decrease of 3% in the price index for export sales and a decrease of 5.6% in respect of the price index for home sales. 

The most significant changes were increases in Other food products including bread and confectionary (+0.7%), Computer, electronic and optical products (+0.6%) and Basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations (+0.4%), while there were decreases in Dairy products (-1.0%), Printing and reproduction of recorded media (-0.8%) and Grain milling, starches and animal feeds (-0.3%).

Contributing to the annual change were increases in Other manufacturing including medical and dental instruments and supplies (+7.6%), Furniture (+4.8%) and Beverages (+1.0%), while there were decreases in Basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations (-4.7%), Other food products including bread and confectionary (-2.2%) and Computer, electronic and optical products (-1.4%).
