Revenue at the British-owned pub chain JD Wetherspoon rose 6.2% to £790.3m (€1.01bn) in the six months to 24 January.
In its half-year report, however, the company – which owns and operates 954 pubs across the UK and Ireland – said operating profit fell 10.8% to £49.4m (€63.4m).
JD Wetherspoon opened five new pubs, including The Linen Weaver Weaver in Cork, and sold two pubs during the period.
It expects to open a total of 15 pubs in this financial year.
The company’s net borrowings were £626.1m (€803m), a rise of £25m (€32m) on the previous year end.
The chain’s Chairman Tim Martin also advocates that the UK should leave the European Union in the report, saying the move would “increase the level of democracy and accountability”.
Wetherspoon has five pubs in Ireland – four in Dublin in addition to the recent opening in Cork.
