18% increase in amount of trips made to Ireland during November to January

New figures from the Central Statistics Office reveal that the number of trips made to Ireland between the months of November and January jumped by 18.4% to 1,745,400. 

The CSO said that marked an overall increase of 271,400 compared to the same time 12 months ago.

Trips by UK residents rose by 17.5% to 815,700 while trips by residents of European countries - apart from the UK - increased by 21.1% to 576,200.  

The figures also show that visits here by residents of North America jumped by 19.4% to 240,200 while trips to Ireland from other areas grew by 10.6% to 113,400.

Meanwhile, the total number of overseas trips made by Irish residents during the three month period rose by 4.9% to 1,379,300.
