Niall Anderton has been appointed as CEO of fuel retailer Topaz following the completion of its sale to Canadian firm Couche-Tard.

Mr Anderton had previously served as chief financial officer at the company and replaces Emmet O’Neill, who was to step down on completion of the takeover.

Couche-Tard’s acquisition of Topaz was announced in early December 2015, with the company believed to have sold for around €400m.

There are 444 Topaz stations across the island of Ireland, 158 of which are directly owned by the company.

Couche-Tard has operations across North America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East and operates the Statoil and Circle K brands.
