Pat Kiely has been named as the Managing Director of TV3.
The appointment is subject to regulatory approval by the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland.
TV3 group is now wholly owned by Virgin Media Ireland. Virgin Media is part of Liberty Global, the largest international cable company with operations in 14 countries.
The former CEO of the television station, David McRedmond, left TV3 in December following Virgin Media Ireland's €87m purchase of the company.
TV3 had been put up for sale by British private equity group Doughty Hanson, which paid €265m for the business in 2006.
