There was a 24.2% rise in the number of planning permissions granted for homes in the third quarter of the year, according to the Central Statistics Office.
Permission was granted for 2,662 units in the three month period – compared to 2,144 in the same quarter of 2014.
The majority of those – 88% - were for houses, with one-off houses accounting for 35.7% of all permissions granted.
The total number of permissions granted in the quarter – which would include extensions, alterations and conversions – was just over 5,000.
This marks a 23.9% rise on the previous quarter and a 42.7% jump year-on-year.
The plannings covered 1,306,000,000 square metres of floor area – of which, 37.4% was for new dwellings.
