The number of visitors to Ireland between July and September of this year increased by 13.5% (330,500 people) when compared with the same period in 2014.
Trips by residents of Great Britain increased by 13.9% to 1,050,400, while trips from European Countries other than Great Britain increased by 14.6% to 987,000, according to data from the Central Statistics Office.
The number of visitors from North America rose to 550,100 (+12.3%), while trips here from the rest of the world increased by 10.0% to 183,400.
The number of Irish residents making overseas trips also rose during the third quarter, up 3.5% to 2,186,500.
The total number of trips in and out of the country between July and September was 8.9% higher than the same period in 2014, at just under 5m.
Commenting on the figures, Minister for Transport Paschal Donohoe said: “With only a couple of months left in 2015, figures released by the CSO today confirm a very strong performance by Irish tourism with all of our main overseas markets continuing to show significant growth.
“I am determined to maintain this positive momentum and in this regard the Tourism Leadership Group continues to work on a detailed Tourism Action Plan to ensure that the strong tourism performance is maintained,” he added.
