Over 2.3m passengers passed through Dublin Airport in September, representing a 14% increase on the same month in 2014.

The growth in passenger numbers for the month made it the busiest September in Dublin Airport's 75-year history.

Passenger numbers to and from continental Europe increased by 14%, with just over 1.2m passengers travelling to European destinations during the month.

The number of passengers travelling to the UK in September rose by 14% to 750,000 when compared with the same month last year.

Transatlantic traffic to North America increased by 16% in September to nearly 275,000, while around 68,000 passengers travelled to the Middle East and North Africa - 14% more than last September.

Domestic traffic rose by a fifth (+21%), with 8,000 people travelling internally during the month.

For the year to the end of September overall passenger numbers at Dublin Airport are up 15% on 2014, at 19.2m people.
