Three Irish companies have been selected for funding in the latest round of the European Union's Horizon 2020 SME programme.

Dublin-based OncoMark, Limerick's Arralis and Cork's Luxcel will each receive funds to finance their innovation activities and the development of their business plans.

Under the programme, the companies will also be entitled to benefit from up to 12 days of business coaching.

OncoMark will get €2.7m in funding to further develop its cancer biomarkers, to aid treatment decisions and allow more tailored patient management.

Arralis will receive EU funding of over €1.1m for its ground breaking radar technology project, which provides the capability for high resolution imagery for helicopters trying to land in difficult conditions.

Luxcel Biosciences will also receive funding for its research and development projects.

Today's announcement brings to 34 the total number of Irish SMEs funded so far under the Horizon 2020 programme.
