Developer Johnny Ronan is poised to buy a 3.7 acre plot of land in Dublin’s Ballsbridge, according to sources cited by news agency Bloomberg.

The site, which is across from the RDS Concert Hall, sold for €200m before the property market crash however the price likely to be paid by Mr Ronan is not yet known.

It was formerly used by AIB as part of its headquarters, which are now located directly behind the site, which has potential for 28,000 square meters of office space.

Mr Ronan did not return requests for comment on the story, while vendor Ulster Bank and NAMA declined to comment.

Mr Ronan had previously co-owned Treasury Holdings with Richard Barret, but the company was liquidated in 2012 with debts of €2.7bn, most of which was owed to the National Asset Management Agency.

The developer successfully exited NAMA earlier this year.
