Chinese technology group Huawei has agreed a deal with Irish telecoms network management business Amartus.
This marks the Chinese group's first purchase in Ireland and will see the Dublin firm split after a restructuring allowing Amartus' senior team and product staff join Huawei.
Huawei has agreed to buy the Amartus software and team that specialises in software-defined networking, which controls telecoms virtually and reduces the need for engineers to physically work with the equipment.
"We are excited to be able to bring this innovative technology to Huawei at a time when the telecom's industry is experiencing unprecedented change, driven by software," Michael Kearns, the CEO of Amartus said.
