Google-owned Nest has unveiled a new internet-connected security camera as part of a revamp of its line of connected devices.
The company - which is best known for its ‘learning’ thermostat - says the Nest Cam can provide high definition video quality along with night vision, allowing users to monitor a location via their phone, tablet or PC.
Nest promises the device will stream and store video securely - while users will be able to pay a subscription fee to access content recorded days or weeks ago.
The Nest Cam will go on sale next month for around €200, with subscriptions costing an additional €10 or €30 depending on the package chosen.
Nest says it has also upgraded its smoke and carbon monoxide alarm - called Protect - as well as its Thermostat and accompanying mobile app.
The company is part of the emerging 'Internet of Things', where appliances and other regular items are given connectivity so that they can 'learn' user preferences and be controlled remotely.
