Regional airline Cityjet said it saw its busiest month on its Dublin to London City Airport route since its foundation 22 years ago.

Figures for May show that Cityjet, which has its headquarters in Swords, Co Dublin, flew almost 23,000 passengers on its Dublin to London City Airport route.

Cityjet said this illustrates the growing popularity of the London airport in the heart of the financial district.

Cityjet’s chief commercial Officer, Cathal O’ Connell, said the airline has seen substantial traffic growth across all its routes, but in particular its services from Dublin and Amsterdam to London City airport have proved to be very much in demand.

"The growth on our Dublin to London City route has been particularly strong with over 50% more passengers travelling with us compared to this time last year," he added.
