Independent News and Media has said that market conditions have continued to improve over the first five months of the year, which saw a positive impact on advertising revenue growth and profitability.
In an interim management statement, the media group said there has been strong growth in digital advertising revenue.
It said it was seeing a continuation of the positive trajectory reported in the company's full year results.
Total group revenues declined by 1% in the months from January to May, while total advertising revenue growth came in at 2.9%.
INM reported digital advertising revenue growth of 45.6%, which it said offset the decline in publishing advertising revenue.
Total circulation revenues fell by 4.2%, which adversely impacted its overall group revenues. "However, these declines has been offset by continuing cost savings," the company said.
INM chairman Leslie Buckley said the company was pleased with its performance so far this year, nothwithstanding certain challenges in the media sector.
