Irish Water says it is too early to say if it will publish figures for how many of its domestic customers have paid bills.

The company is currently one third of the way through its first 12-week billing period cycle and is posting 37,000 bills every day.

Customers will be given 14 days to pay bills.

It means the company will receive preliminary internal figures regarding how many domestic customers are paying bills in July.

Irish Water has acknowledged there will be discrepancies in the bills.

However, when asked if the company would publish figures regarding how many customers had paid and how many had not paid at any time in future, a spokesperson for the company said it was "too early" to say.

So far 1.2 million customers have registered with Irish Water.
