Kerrygold owner Irish Dairy Board has rebranded as Ornua, a day ahead of the removal of the EU milk quota.
The group, which is Ireland's biggest exporter of Irish dairy products, sells produce in over 110 countries around the world.
Among the factors considered ahead of the rebrand was confusion in certain markets about whether or not the company is a State body.
It was set up in 1961 by the Government as An Bord Bainne and became a co-operative in 1973. It adopted the name Irish Dairy Board Co-operative Limited in 1994.
Today's rebranding means the name Irish Dairy Board Co-operative Limited has changed to Ornua Co-operative Limited, and this only applies to the corporate identity and not its structure.
Over the last five years, Ornua has invested over €200m in growing its brands, in innovation and in opening new production facilities and offices around the world.
It employs over 3,000 staff in Ireland and its 18 subsidiaries around the world. Ornua's brands include Kerrygold, Pilgrims Choice, Dubliner cheese, MU, and milk powder BEO.
Tonight the EU milk quota system in place for more than 30 years will end. The Irish Government wants to increase annual Irish milk production by 2.75 billion litres in the next five years.
This will mean adding at least 300,000 dairy cows to the 1.1 million herd already being milked today.
