400 food buyers attending Bord Bia's Marketplace event

Over 400 international food buyers are in Ireland this week for Bord Bia's Marketplace event. 

It is the biggest international food buyer event to be staged Ireland, and involves food and drink buyers from 30 countries

Ireland's food products are exported to 175 countries and are worth €10.5 billion a year to the economy.

Buyers from retailers all over the world are travelling the country visiting farms, factories and shops this week. Among them is 100 buyers from Asia, including the biggest ever Chinese trade delegation to travel to Ireland.

The buyers are from sectors like meat and dairy, alcohol, seafood, bakery, confectionery and speciality foods. 

Bord Bia says the week-long business development event aims to build new trade relationships with retailers, foodservice buyers, ingredient buyers and distributors from across the globe.
 
The event will see the 400 international buyers joined by 140 Irish food and drink buyers meeting 185 small and large Irish food and drinks companies hoping to grow their export businesses.
