The National Treasury Management Agency today sold €500m of six month Treasury Bills - its target amount.

According to the NTMA, total bids for the bills received amounted to €1.965 billion. This was almost four times the amount on offer.

The Treasury Bills were sold at a yield of -0.01%, the first time ever the agency has sold debt with a negative yield.

Analyst said this reflected the sign of the times as euro zone bond yields continue to drift lower all across the board on the back of the European Central Bank’s QE programme.
