CRH has confirmed that it is in discussions with construction companies Lafarge and Holcim about it acquiring some of the firms’ assets.
France’s Lafarge and Switzerland’s Holcim announced a merger early last year and are planning to dispose of some of their assets in order to ease any regulatory concerns around the deal.
CRH said it was talking to both companies about it potentially acquiring some of those disposals ahead of the merger’s expected completion later this year.
The company said that any transaction would be funded “through a combination of existing cash balances, debt and an equity placing”.
However CRH added that there was no certainty of a deal being agreed as a result of these discussions and it would make a further announcement on the matter when necessary.
