Ethiopian Airlines is to begin flying between Addis Ababa, Dublin and Los Angeles from June.

The African carrier will be the only airline flying direct between Dublin and LA. 

Ethiopian chief executive Tewolde Gebremariam said the route would connect three continents, adding that he was confident the new route will appeal to both holidaymakers and business travellers.

Ethiopian Airlines plans to sell return flights between Dublin and Los Angeles and between Dublin and Addis Ababa from €595.

The carrier is the latest in a series of airlines launching new routes into and out of Ireland. 

Icelandic carrier Wow Air begins flying between Dublin and Reykjavik this summer, while the French low-fares carrier Transavia is also due to start a new services connecting Dublin and Orly airport in Paris.
