Eircom is to increase the prices it charges to some of its residential and business customers.

The telecoms company said customers using one of its plans would see their monthly bills increase by between €2 and €8 depending on the services they use.

Eircom sells a range of bundled services, offering two or more services including landline phone, broadband, mobile phone and TV.

The company said it was also planning to increase the call set up fee and rate charged for calls made outside of the customer's voice plan allowance.

Business customers will see prices rise by between €3 and €10 excluding VAT, with the exact increase also dependent on the services used.

Eircom said the changes would be reflected in bills from the middle of April onwards, with customers being notified in writing in the coming weeks.

It also said it would be withdrawing its Fixed SMS service, which allows customers to send and receive text messages to their landline phone, from 30 June.
