Aer Lingus carried 11.1 million passengers in 2014 - a record outcome for the airline.
The figure is up 3.8% on the previous year's passenger numbers of 10.7 million and includes customers on its Aer Lingus Regional operations.
The airline's long haul passenger numbers for the year rose by 20.6% while its short haul numbers dipped by 1%.
The overall load factor for 2014 - how many seats it fills on each flights - also increased by 0.6 percentage points to 79%.
However, the airline's total passenger numbers fell in December on the back of a planned reduction in its short haul capacity.
Aer Lingus said it flew a total of 705,000 passengers last month, including those on its regional operations. This was down 3.8% on the 733,000 it carried in December 2013.
Its short haul passenger numbers dropped by 8.2% to 517,000 in December from 563,000 the same month the previous year, while its long haul figures jumped 20% to 102,000 from 85,000.
Passenger numbers on the its regional operations, which is operated by Stobart Air, rose by 1.2% in December and were 18% higher at 1.3 million on an annual basis.
The airline recently rejected a takeover approach from International Airlines Group which has sent its share price higher in recent weeks.
