The volume of output by the construction industry grew slightly in the last quarter, according to the Central Statistics Office, up 0.1% on the previous three months.
The slight increase came as a result of a 5.2% growth in residential building and civil engineering, which was largely offset by a 1% fall in the volume of non-residential work.
The industry’s output was 10.1% higher in the third quarter when compared to the same period of last year.
Meanwhile, the value of construction work done in the last quarter was 1.3% higher, which was up 11% year-on-year.
According to the CSO, residential building work has rise 19.1% in the past year – albeit from a low base.
The volume of civil engineering work is 13.4% higher, while non-residential building is up 2.5%.
