More than 1,465 new private cars were licensed for the first time last month, according to the Central Statistics Office, up 12.1% on the same month of 2013.
That brings the number of new cars licensed in the first eleven months of the year to 91,380, which represents a 29.2% increase on the same period of last year.
The number of used imported cars fell last month, however, down 6.9% year-on-year to 4,177.
But the figure for January to November is up on 2013, with 49,563 imported in the year to date - 6.4% more than in the first eleven months of last year.
Renault was the most popular make of car last month, according to the CSO, with 166 of its models licensed in November.
Volkswagen was the second most popular during the period, and is by far the most popular in the year to date with 11,106 sales.
