Britain's unemployment rate sank to 6% in the quarter to the end of August, reaching the lowest point since late 2008, official data showed today.
The rate for the three months from June to August compares with 6.2% for the three months to the end of July, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) said.
The number of unemployed in the UK, meanwhile, dropped by 154,000 to stand at 1.97 million people, it added.
