Recruitment firm Brightwater may have to avail of its own services as it looks to hire up to 50 new staff.

Brightwater is looking primarily for new recruitment consultants across its Dublin, Cork and Belfast offices. It also expects to recruit a number of support staff.

The firm's managing director David Bloch said Brightwater had seen strong demand for recruitment services across a number of sectors over the past 18 months.

"The fact that we as recruiters are recruiting ourselves underpins the increasing recruitment demands and growing confidence in the Irish economy.  While recruitment demands are increasing across the board, we are seeing a particular demand in the areas of IT, banking, legal, HR and office support," he said.

He said salary expectations were also beginning to rise for certain roles. "We are seeing anything between a 3% to 10% hike depending on the skills and sector.  The higher end of the scale is particularly relevant to the IT sector where there are vast shortages of key skills and candidates willing to move," said Mr Bloch.

Meanwhile, Microsoft Ireland today said it is seeking to recruit 100 top graduates for a range of graduate and internship positions within its Irish operations.

The company said that roles will include programme manager positions, sales opportunities, HR, legal functions as well as finance and marketing positions. On the technical side there will be opportunities for candidates in software engineering and development, as well as engineering support.
