Derry-based independent coffee chain Ground Espresso Bars is set to open its first Dublin outlet next month as part of a £1.5m expansion into the Republic of Ireland.

The company, which already has eleven outlets in Northern Ireland with a further two set to open in the coming months, said it had started work on a unit in Blanchardstown Shopping Centre in north Dublin.

The café will be located within the Next store in the centre as part of a wider agreement with the retailer, and is due to create ten jobs when in opens in a few weeks’ time.

Ground Espresso Bars is aiming to open a further three outlets in the Republic over the next 12 months, which would lead to the creation of around 80 new jobs.

The company’s announcement came as it opened two newly refurbished stores in Belfast, which it said would work as a “bench mark for future Ground Espresso Bars stores in Ireland”.
