The owners of The Square in Tallaght, Dublin have been given the go-ahead for a €40m extension of the shopping centre.
The development will be funded by the National Asset Management Agency and will add 300,000 square feet to the centre when completed.
Indego, the holding company of The Square’s main owner, said 300 construction jobs would be created during the development, with the potential for up to 400 jobs in the retailers that will occupy the new space.
The planned development will involve an extension of the centre on its northern side, as well as extension of the centre’s third floor above an existing car park.
Indego welcomed approval from An Bord Pleanala, which it said would help the centre to compete with other large shopping developments along the M50.
